Description : Pedro Álvares Cabral, Portuguese maritime explorer, discoverer of Brazil. Source : Library of Congress; steel engraving by American Bank Note Company (no copyright renewal). This steel engraving was used to print the 1000 cruzeiros bank notes[1] issued in 1962. The work is a reproduction of an ancient regular engraving. Date : c. 1943
